The best time is now!

When was the last time that you had a massage?

You know deep down you would benefit tremendously, and yet you keep putting it off.

In this short blog, I wanted to share with you the top 3 reasons people procrastinate over booking a massage or another relaxing and therapeutic holistic treatment, and why you shouldn’t listen to yourself when you make these excuses!

Number 1 - Time “I really need a massage, but I’m just so busy!”

Sound familiar?

Ironically, this is when a treatment can do you the most good.

If you constantly feel like there just isn’t enough time in the day, there is a good chance that you are overworked and stressed. A relaxing hour or so, enjoying some holistic therapy in a nurturing environment is likely to do you a world of good. In fact, it has been said (by many respected individuals in the health and wellness industry) that an hour of massage is the equivalent of a full night’s sleep to your body.

I get it! I understand that it’s tough to find the time to take care of yourself, and let me tell you, if there’s a will there’s a way!

If you are a parent, hire a babysitter or ask a trusted friend or relative to watch over your children for a few hours. If you are employed full-time, look for an appointment in the evening or on the weekend. You may even have time due to you, or flexible working and using this to look after yourself is a great use of this time.

Even if you are still pressed for time, bump a massage to the top of your priority list!

Number 2 - Body Shame “There’s NO WAY I’m letting a stranger see me up close like this!”

Most of us go through periods of time when, in our own heads, we feel more attractive or less attractive. The trouble is, when we’re in the “less attractive” mode, our reflex is to hibernate, and this is turn can cause us to feel even worse. I would also like to add at this stage, others do not see this. I do not see this – you are a beautiful human and that is what I see in every woman who walks through the door to my therapy room.

Whether you’re feeling “less-attractive” due to weight gain, what kind of shape your body is in, or those times when you are too busy to sleep, that you haven’t shaved your legs, or you have a huge spot on your chin, the bottom line is that waiting to feel better about yourself, to do something you need is not a good way to live.

Don’t wait for the perfect weight, iron-toned muscles, flawless skin, and punch the” bags-under-the eyes” idea out of the water.

If you are feeling low due to body image, a massage is just what you need. By the time you leave you’ll be ready to skip hibernation season and share your glowing self with the world!

Number 3 - Money “I can’t possibly treat myself right now. Maybe for my next birthday…”

Change your perspective of a massage from a “treat” to a “treatment.” There are proven health benefits of a massage and other holistic treatments.

So, consider not what a massage will do to your purse — rather, consider what a massage will do for you, and then budget it. The positive cost-benefit to massage and other holistic treatments is that feeling good physically extends to other areas of our lives. When we feel good, we are overall happier, more productive, and satisfied with our lives.

Convinced, yet?

Like anything good for you with no particular time frame, the best time to do it is…now.

Go ahead, decide which treatment you’d like and book it, because if you don’t schedule it now you’ll keep coming up with excuses for delaying it.

Once you have booked you can already start benefiting — by looking forward to that much needed time just for you!

Your mind, body and soul will thank you!

Much love, Fiona x
